Consorte Garrafeira 2019
The Consorte Garrafeira 2019 is a limited-edition white wine produced by Adega da Vara, located in Fundões, Castelo de Paiva, within Portugal's Minho region. This monovarietal wine is crafted exclusively from the Arinto grape, locally known as Chapeludo.
Vinification and Aging
Harvest: Handpicked in the third week of September 2019, with meticulous selection of grape clusters. The grapes were transported to the winery in ventilated 20 kg crates.
Vinification: After destemming, the grapes were gently pressed using a 19th-century wooden press, allowing for light skin maceration. The must underwent static cold clarification and was fermented with indigenous yeasts in used French oak barrels, without temperature control.
Aging: The wine matured on fine lees in the same barrels for approximately 8 months, with bâtonnage. After gentle filtration, it was bottled on July 15, 2020, following the biodynamic calendar.
Tasting Notes
Color: Bright straw yellow with good intensity and citrus reflections.
Aroma: Clean, intense, and complex, revealing depth. Floral notes (yellow flowers), ripe citrus fruits (lemon), and aromatic herbs (lemon thyme) stand out, supported by subtle hints of spices (vanilla).
Palate: Dry, creamy, with balanced acidity, good structure, and a long finish.
Food Pairing
This versatile wine pairs well with fresh seafood, grilled fish, white meats, and vegetarian dishes.
