Mengoba Mencía El Rebolón 2019

The Mengoba Mencía El Rebolón 2019 is a distinguished red wine from the Bierzo DO (Denomination of Origin) in northwest Spain. Crafted by Bodegas Mengoba, this wine exemplifies the estate's commitment to producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.

Winemaking and Aging
This wine is predominantly made from Mencía grapes, with small quantities of Alicante Bouschet and Godello blended in. The grapes are sourced from two plots of very old vines located in Espanillo, situated at an altitude of 750 meters on slate soils. The wine undergoes fermentation with 50% whole clusters in oak foudre and is aged for 16 months in two 600-liter oak barrels, followed by an additional six months in a concrete egg. Approximately 1,800 bottles were produced in April 2020.
