The Quinta da Boa Esperança Grande Reserva Tinto 2015 is a distinguished red wine from the Lisbon region of Portugal, produced by Quinta da Boa Esperança. This wine is crafted from grapes grown in clay-limestone soils, which contribute to its unique character.

Winemaking and Aging

  • Harvest: 100% manual, with grapes carefully selected and picked into 15 kg boxes.

  • Vinification: Total destemming followed by pre-fermentation maceration at 8ºC. Fermentation occurs in lagar (traditional open fermenters) at a controlled temperature of 24ºC.

  • Aging: The wine is aged for 40 months in new French oak barrels, followed by an additional 24 months in the bottle before release.

Tasting Notes

  • Color: Intense garnet hue.

  • Aroma: Complex bouquet dominated by black fruit aromas, complemented by spicy and smoky notes resulting from the specific blend of grape varieties and its prolonged aging in barrels.

  • Palate: Fresh, intense, and structured, with firm tannins that provide a very long and persistent finish.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs well with meat dishes, seasoned fish, cheeses, and cured meats.

Serving Recommendations

  • Temperature: Serve between 16-18ºC (60-64ºF) to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and structure.

  • Decanting: Given its extended aging and complexity, decanting is recommended to allow the wine to breathe and to enhance its aromatic profile.

The Quinta da Boa Esperança Grande Reserva Tinto 2015 exemplifies the winery's commitment to producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Lisbon region. Its complexity and depth make it a memorable choice for connoisseurs seeking a refined red wine experience.
